and discovered a number of programs that you may find helpful. You'll find

Utilities and other items for your
California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA): Through their Extra
Credit Teacher Home Purchase Program, eligible teachers, administrators,
classified employees and staff members working in county/continuation or
high priority schools in California can receive loans ranging from $7,500 to
$15,000 to apply toward down payment or closing costs.
Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA): CHFA has created
the Teachers Mortgage Assistance Program, offering home loans at
below-market interest rates to Connecticut public school and
Detroit Land Bank Authority: The Land Bank helps
Detroit redevelop vacant and abandoned properties and has acquired tens of
thousands of homes. A 50% Educator Discount Program is offered to all
full-time educators and support staff within the City of Detroit who are
interested in purchasing a home that's up for auction by the Land Bank.
Program: This program offers reduced closing costs, reduced
real estate agent fees, priority loan processing, and a donation to the
school program of your choice. Everyone employed within the education
industry qualifies including teachers, professors, coaches, librarians,
nurses, secretaries, custodial staff and other support personnel.
Residential Apartments: Through their Hometown Heroes program,
a 50% discount is made available to teachers and other service
personnel on the security deposit of hundreds of quality and conveniently located apartment
communities across the U.S.
Advantage: This real estate rebate program offers savings of up
to $5,000 via cash back, credit and discounts on the purchase, sale or
refinance of a home. Teachers are eligible, as well as military personnel,
law enforcement, firefighters, and health care professionals.
Heroes: Homes for Heroes is a program that works with lenders,
inspectors and title companies to offer discounts to educators,
firefighters, military and other service personnel who are looking to
purchase, rent, sell, or refinance a home.
A philanthropic initiative founded in 2015 by Dr. Priscilla Chan and her
husband Mark Zuckerberg to assist educators in making down payments on
Mississippi Housing Assistance for Teachers Program (HAT): In
an effort to attract qualified teachers, Mississippi's HAT program provides
closing cost grants of up to $6,000 -- available to licensed teachers
agreeing to employment for a period of 3+ years in a school district where a
critical shortage of teachers exists.
Nashville Teacher Housing: Nashville’s Office of Mayor recently
launched this online initiative to help teachers find affordable third-party
rentals and homes on the market. Teachers are encouraged to use the website
as a tool to find housing at prices they can afford.
Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency (OHFA): OHFA has created a 4
Teachers program which provides low-interest home loans for Oklahoma
educators. In addition, eligible borrowers may receive a grant for down
Preferred Living Apartments: Educators looking to rent
in the greater areas of Columbus, Dublin, Upper Arlington, Worthington and
Reynoldsburg, Ohio get a one-time $300 discount at any of the Preferred
Living rental communities.
Residential Home Funding Corp: Through their Mortgages for
Champions home loan program, teachers are able to save from 2.00% to 3.00%
and cut down the extra paperwork that often comes with other loan programs.
Francisco Teacher Next Door Program (TND): The TND program
provides forgivable down payment loans of up to $20,000 to assist teachers
employed with the San Francisco Unified School District.
Schumacher Homes: Schumacher specializes in building custom
homes in over a dozen states on the East and Gulf coasts. Teachers who are
considering a custom-built home can receive a discount via their Community
Champions program. Firefighters, nurses and members of the police or
military also qualify.
South Carolina Housing
Palmetto Heroes Program: South Carolina's certified teachers
can take advantage of this initiative, which offers down payment assistance
of up to $8,000 plus a low interest rate on home loans.
Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC): TSAHC's
Homes for Texas Heroes program honors teachers for their service to Texas
children and families by providing them with a low, fixed-rate home loan and
a grant for down payment assistance.
Traton Homes: Building custom homes in the Atlanta, GA and
Charlotte, SC areas, the Traton Homes company shows appreciation for local
community heroes with their Community Champions program. This program is
designed to provide a discount to school employees, active military, police
and fire personnel.
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): HUD
offers pre-K through 12th grade teachers a 50% discount off the list price
of select homes through their Good Neighbor Next Door Sales Program. Law
enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians are
