Credit Cards

Our goal is to help you increase savings and decrease debt. Credit cards can help you do both, but only when used properly.

Increase Savings: If you are able to pay off a credit card every month, then a cash back credit card or rewards card is a smart choice to use when paying for gas, groceries, bills and daily purchases. If you travel often, there are several worthy travel/airline and hotel rewards cards as well. Tip: Introductory sign-up/bonus offers and limited time offers can be a great thing. Just make sure you understand and follow the terms to reap the benefits.

Decrease Debt: If you have debt on which you pay interest, you may want to consider a balance transfer credit card to move that debt to a low interest rate card or to a 0% APR card. Tip: 0% cards are almost always an introductory rate, so try to get the longest term possible and be sure to pay off or transfer the debt completely before the percentage rate goes up. If you do pay off a credit card, it's generally better to keep the account open for credit score purposes. If you have significant credit card debt, we recommend you talk to DebtWave, a nonprofit credit counseling agency which has helped countless educators and school support staff.

Get Matched: Need help finding the best credit card? Scroll down for a list of card types or use CardMatch™ to receive special offers and matches based on your credit profile. This free, secure service is provided by creditcards.com and will not impact your credit score. Tip: Whichever card you go with, always strive to get one with no annual fee.
